Columbia Neurologist Installed as the 109th President of the National Medical Association

Carolyn B. Britton, M.D., M.S., associate professor of clinical neurology at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, was installed as the 109th president of the National Medical Association on July 29, 2008. The ceremony was held during the NMA’s annual convention in Atlanta, Ga.

Dr. Britton is the first neurologist and the ninth woman to be named president of the NMA. She has been active in the NMA for many years, having served as Chair of the Neurology/Neurosurgery Section, Chair of the Finance Committee, Chair of the Board of Trustees, and President-Elect. During her administration, Dr. Britton plans to focus on cancer and mental health disparities.  More...
